We’re so excited to be participating in Wawa Welcome America for the third year in a safe, socially distanced, capacity!

We hope you’ll join us on Tuesday, June 28, 2022, for Pay-What-You-Wish Day at the Mütter Museum, a part of Wawa Welcome America!

America’s finest museum of medical history, the Mütter, displays collections of anatomical specimens, models and medical instruments in a nineteenth-century setting. This includes slides of Einstein’s Brain, the 139 skulls from Hyrtl’s collection, and a rotation of art exhibits that accompany the themes and aims of the Museum’s collections.

Visitors can explore special exhibits such as  and , attend pop-up exhibits and gallery talks from our Library and Museum staff, color our collection in the historic ambiance and stately architecture of Ashhurst and Mitchell Halls, and relax in our beautiful Benjamin Rush Medicinal Plant Garden.

To guarantee your entry, reserve your ticket and select an arrival time for the first or second half of the day. You are welcome to enter any time during your ticket time (10:00 AM - 1:30 PM or 1:30 - 4:00 PM). We ask that you consider making a $20 donation with your reservation to help support our mission to advance the cause of health while upholding the ideals and heritage of medicine.

There will be a limited amount of tickets available for walk-ups and we strongly suggest reserving your ticket ahead of time as we expect to sell out that day.

Read the FAQ’s below to ensure a safe, disturbingly informative visit:

What is your current face mask and COVID-19 vaccination policy?

At this time we are not checking vaccination cards for Museum visitors, and masks are strongly encouraged but not required. Please continue to check our website for the latest information regarding COVID safety policies.

Are strollers allowed in the Museum galleries?

No. Due to the size and layout of the Museum, we do not allow strollers inside the main galleries. Strollers can be stored in our locker rooms or in our Koop classroom directly across from the front desk. Please see a Visitors Services Associate for assistance if you would like to store a stroller.

Is your building air conditioned?

Yes, the entire College of Physicians building is air conditioned, and we will provide water for guests free of cost.

Will you have walk-up tickets available for the Pay-What-You-Wish Day on June 28?

A limited amount of tickets will be available for walk-ups. To guarantee your entry, we strongly suggest reserving your ticket ahead of time here. We are expecting to sell out of tickets that day.

Are photos allowed in the galleries?

Photography is not permitted in the main galleries. However, feel free to take photographs of our exhibit in Thomson Hall, the main lobby, and Benjamin Rush Medicinal Herb Garden.

What are the parking and transit options for visitors?

Unfortunately, there is not a parking lot associated with the building. Two paid lots are directly next to and behind the building. There is also metered on-street parking on most of the streets surrounding the Museum. There are multiple transit options including on SEPTA, PATCO, and AMTRAK.
